Environmental Digital Generator

EDG is an attempt to generate virtual terrain with perlin noise. The generation is very crude however working with it has created some inspiration for me. Dealing with virtual terrain has taught me alot about thinking in 3 dimensions. I have written a terrain model in the game maker language, which converts 2 dimensional isometric tiles into a 2.5 dimensional array that is traverseable like any other 3 dimensional terrain.

Materials

Material Sources Description
Unclean Water Lake Water unfit for consumption. Has a risk of instilling sickness. (20%)
Clean Water Lake, Rain Water that is clean enough to use in cooking, and to consume.
Brine Water Ocean Used to contain tropical fish. Contains salt.
Dirt Ground A low quality soil. Not useful for much.
Soil Ground A high quality fertile soil. Used to grow crops.
Sand Desert, Beach A clean, pure silicate sand. Used to create a varity of glass.
Stone Stone Used to construct basic structures.
Iron Ore Stone Contains iron, needs to be extracted.
Seashell Beach A source of quicklime.
Wood Tree A source of both fuel, and building material.

Craftable Items

Item Materials Description
Compost 1 Dirt, 1 Food Waste An alternative to soil.
Compost 2 Leaves
Concrete 4 Stone, 1 Clean Water, 1 Quicklime A solid, easy to produce an form builing material.
Coquina 3 Stone, 1 Seashell, 1 Clean Water, 1 Quicklime A hard stiff concrete made of seashells. Opitmal for underwater construction.

Craftable Structures

Structure Materials Description
Fire 25 Wood Consumes fuel, and ouputs a dry or cooked item. Useless when wet.
Brick Oven 25 Stone Consumes fuel, and ouputs a dry or cooked item.
Kiln 25 Refractory Cement A high tempurature manufacturing device.
Anvil 50 Wrought Iron A device for processing metals.
Prepared Steel 1 Iron, 1 Coke A wrap of carbon around iron. The beginning of the steel making process.

Salt 1 Brine Water in an Brick Oven or Fire. Manly used for food preservation.
Glass 1 Sand in Kiln A crude, basic form of glass. A simple blade material, and glase material.
Wrought Iron 1 Iron Ore in Kiln A poor quality iron made from iron containing minerals.
Forgable Iron 1 Wrought Iron in Kiln Hot iron ready for the hammer.
Iron 1 Forgable Iron over Anvil A quality iron made from processing iron.
Charcoal 1 Wood in Fire A poor quality fuel, the remains of burning wood.
Coke 1 Charcoal in Brick Oven A quality fuel made from charcoal.
Forgable Steel 1 Prepared Steel in Kiln Hot steel read for the hammer.
Steel 1 Forgeable Steel over Anvil A quality metal used for the manufacture of structures and equipment.
Iron Part 1 Iron over Anvil An simple part made of Iron. Used for making Pommels, Crossguards, and Mechanical Parts.
Iron Short Blade 2 Iron over Anvil A short blade made of Iron. Used for making Knives, Daggers, and Tools.
Iron Head 3 Iron over Anvil The head of a tool made of Iron. Used for making Axes, Maces, Hammers, Polearms, Shovels, and Picks.
Iron Long Blade 4 Iron over Anvil The blade of a long sword. Used for making Short Swords, Long Swords, Hoes, and Rakes.

Equipment Method Description
[X] Knife Provides a multiplier to gathering: All Materials from creatures; and a damage multiplier against the body.
[X] Dagger Provides a massive damage multiplier against the body, and sensory devices.
[X] Comma Provides a muliplier to gathering: Grass, and Wheat.
[X] Axe Provides a multiplier to gathering: Wood; and a damage muliplier against limbs and body.
[X] Mace Provides a damage multiplier against sensory devices, and the head.
[X] Hammer Removes the crafting penalty while using an Anvil. Provides a massive damage multiplier against the head.
[X] Polearm Provides a massive damage mutliplier against limbs.
[X] Shovel Provides a multiplier to gathering: Dirt, Soil, and Sand.
[X] Pick Provides a multiplier to gathering: All Stone, All Ores, and All Gemstones.
[X] Short Sword Provides a damage multiplier to all part of a creature.
[X] Long Sword Provides a damage multiplier against the body, head and limbs.
[X] Hoe Provides a multiplier to gathering: All farmable items.
[X] Rake Required to gather leaves. Provides a massive damage multiplier to tails and wings.
